Portland Temple

While we were in Portland on Friday- I thought we should go walk around the temple for a minute- I don't think the kids had seen this temple yet.  We stopped at the bookstore for a new CD then went to see the temple!
The kids thought it was fun until we got in the car to drive home and had to go pretty slow with the Portland Friday afternoon traffic.  Dylan does not like traffic.  He kept saying, "This is wasting my time!" and "come on go faster people!"  Still, Lance and Allie had a nice rest in the car and we had a fun day!

You belong in the ZOO

Last Friday, March 19th, the kids had a day off from school.  The week had been so warm and sunny, and we still had a week until Spring Break, so we thought we'd head to the Oregon Zoo to enjoy some sun.  I think half of Portland had the same idea!  It was pretty busy there, but since we have a membership, we had a fast afternoon at the zoo.

Posing with the penguins-
And enjoying lunch outside!

I think Makayla is being a monkey at the zoo.

The kids favorite place is where they can feed the birds.

Fun day at the zoo.

Math is Cool

Makayla was on a Math is Cool team for her school.  Her team meet with a bunch of teams in Vancouver and competed by doing math problems.  Her team didn't win this year, but she learned a lot and thinks she will do it again next year.
I was able to go watch part of it.  It was pretty fun to watch these little Math-letes at work!

Give a day- get a Disney day!

The kids and I made blankets for an organization that distributes them to children in need.
I let the kids pick out the material they would like then we got busy cutting and folding blankets!
The kids worked really hard, and would talk about how much a child would love their soft blanket while they worked.  Some of them get taken to hospitals, or homeless shelter, and some went to help people in Haiti as well!  The kids loved that they were doing service- and earning a free ticket to Disneyland too!
Allie helped me fold mine- and was pretty good at it!
Makayla was really fast and wants to make one for herself now.
The finished blankets.  We made 6 blankets and earned 3 tickets to Disneyland.  I'm glad we got on board early to earn our tickets- Disneyland go so many volunteers early I think they have already ended the program.  I thought it was a great way for the kids to serve, and now when we go to the park it will mean so much more to them!  Good job kiddos!

Saturday is a BUSY day!!

It seems like every saturday we have more than one thing to go and do.  Sometimes its nice to be busy but sometimes its nice to have a nice quiet saturday.  Here's some pictures from one of our Saturdays in the end of February.

Dylan had his last basketball game.  After the game we had some treats and he got his medal.  He had a great season and turned out to be a pretty good basketball player!

From basketball we went to my nieces swim birthday party!  Aunt Teri Le had rented the pool so the kids had a blast eating cake and then swimming!

From there Quinn and Dylan went to watch wrestling in Portland and I took the rest of the gang to the ward talent show.  Here Makaylas trying to get in and help our side win the roll-and unroll the wrap race?!

Maybe thats why Sunday we feel a little crazy!
Now that basketballs over- we had a day off and Dylans starting baseball.  And we just got a piano, so Makayla will be starting lessons again!  Good stuff!

Funny boy

Sometimes my kids find creative things to do while I'm busy.  Last week the little ones were playing upstairs on the computer so I went downstairs to sweep and mop the floors.  Slowly I heard some clomping coming down the stairs, and here is Lance sporting my red heels.  He is actually pretty darn good at walking in them!
And try to get the kids out of the way while you mop- its way more fun to hang from the table and try to let mom get you while shes mopping!
I guess since he had shoes on he was ready to go outside.  I'm sure he will love these pictures of him one day!  Funny boy.

Spaghetti Tacos

While Quinn was in Texas for an ortho conference last weekend, the kids and I had some fun with dinner.  They wanted to make spaghetti tacos like on one of their TV shows.  Heres Makayla making one and Dylan trying them!

Yummy!  I think Dylan ate two of them.

Lance was not sure what we were eating- but he's really a good eater and this is proof he'll eat just about anything.

And again- Lance trying to make everyone laugh during dinner.
Sidenote about spaghetti tacos:  Makayla had a big math competition the next day and was pretty nervous, so up came the spaghetti tacos in the middle of the night.  Not really sure if I will make them again after that.
