Lance vs. the barstool

I love my kiddos.
It is not fun when one of them gets hurt!
Today we had preschool at our place again and as the kids were finishing snacks, I started getting things out for our activity.
Lance tried to climb up on the bar stool next to me, but missed a step and the bar stool fell over on him.  I was right next to him and it seemed to fall in slow motion. As soon as I looked down I could see the gash in his head filling with blood.
The funny thing is, that today when my friend dropped her daughter off at my place, she told me she was going to a friends and would be close if I needed to call her to come get Lance, or anything.  SO right away I knew to call her!
She ran over and took the kids while I ran Lance to the ER.
Here he is in the waiting room.  Looks fine to me!
Then in the ER room I took his band aid off for a picture before the doctor came in.
He was watching Dora and didn't seem to mind the whole in his head at all!

The nurse put some numbing cream on and he was totally fine!

Until they strapped him into the papoose board.  He did not like that, but did pretty good while they put in 5 stitches.
As soon as they unstrapped him, he did a long burp and was fine again.
When the Doc came back in to have me sign papers, he did jump behind me pretty quickly.
What an eventful day.  Im just glad he's OK!!

Halloween Sunday

After a long Halloween week, we spent Halloween Sunday at the Drapers house for a YUMMY dinner and treats with cousins.
Dylan, Brock, Kaleb and Trevor.
Lance, Makayla, Brinley, Aspen and Allie

We love you Kaitlin!

Keeping Lance busy while we had a family night about the Holy Ghost.

Happy Halloween 2010!

Good Luck Chuck!

You would think we've had enough Halloween, but Quinn still had to go to work.
Here's what we came up with this year:

I think he looked like a pretty hot Charlie Brown!

Party Time

And the Halloween Parties begin!
This week preschool was at our place- so I got to  throw the halloween party for the preschool group. We had lots of fun making spider snacks and playing games.
Allie and her friends- Lance, Jenna, Allie, Kenya, Audrey and Olivia!

Then it was off to the ward party.
The Quinn Draper family went as the Chipmunks and Chippettes!
Here's Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor.

The boys as Alvin, Theodore and Simon:

The whole group. My kids were really into the Chipmunks movie this year.

Lance pumpkin bowling:

One of the cool rooms where you could trick or treat:

Some of the fun games:

Allie liked picking the witches nose for treats:

Dylan like the elephant that dropped silly bands out of its trunk.

Lance liked the cupcakes:

Now the next party.
Makayla and her friend from church threw a big Halloween party.  My friend Kristen hosted it at her beautiful house.  We had a good time with all these 6th graders.

Check out her buffet: The kids brought treats to share.

The Hostesses with the Mostesses-
Julianne and Makayla

The 6th graders:

They had a fun night of hide and go seek, a witch hunt, zombie games and ghost games.
We are partied out!

Pumpkin Time

The kids always look forward to carving pumpkins.  They don't love the guts. They don't love the carving.  But for some reason, they are always asking and asking, "When are we going to carve pumpkins?"
So here's family night on Halloween week:
Actually, Lance like the guts and the carving...

Allie wanted hers to have whiskers:

Somehow Lances pumpkin made it through Halloween week without being smashed or thrown across the room like a ball.

They were all pretty happy with how they turned out!

Halloween week begins...

Dylan was invited to a Halloween party by a girl in his class at school.  Some of the boys in his class and Dylan, all went together.  Friday afternoon I pulled out the costumes to see what he wanted to wear.
he told me  he was 'too old' for little boy costumes, and that the other boys were going as football players.
He found this husker Jersey and helmet inside and was happy to be a husker at the party!
Allie pulled out her cheerleader costume and cheered on the football players out front.

Then our music class had a Halloween party.
Looks at all those cute kiddos.  Some of the mos put together little stations, and the kids went around and played games.  I ran pin the nose on the pumpkin.
Allie rode her chicken from last year and Lance was a 'hike guy'.

And you know you've had lots of halloween when your kid had put candy make-up on.
He started out with a blue sucker in his hand, then somehow on the ride he had blue eyes and lips and cheeks and hands.
Lets eat this candy quickly, I'm ready for it to be gone already!!

The Pumpkin Patch

The Fall here in Washington has been very beautiful.  Its almost made fall my favorite season, because the spring was so rainy.  But every sunny day I find myself enjoying it, with a hint of apprehension, knowing that the rain may be here tomorrow and I may not see the sun again for a long, long time.
That's how all my kids made it to the pumpkin patch in the middle of a school day.
Our 'music class group' meets every Tuesday, and this day we had all planned to go to the pumpkin patch for a field trip.  I looked at the weather and it was going to be nice and sunny.  The weekend forecast called for rain, so if I was going to the pumpkin patch it was going to be on Tuesday.  I told my big kids they had an appointment, and picked them up early.
We had a great pumpkin patch in Nebraska that we went to for 3 years, and since I was missing it, I needed a new tradition.  I think this place was pretty fun- and we had a good sunny fall day at our appointment.
The kids started in a hay maze!

My boys are getting so big-
And somehow- so are my girls!

Then we were off to feed the animals.

Next stop the hay tower.
There were lots of tunnels to crawl through too.

Umm... some of my big kids' friends friends have siblings that go to our music class.
Their friends had appointments that day too.
Trying to get a big group shot of our group was pretty funny- I thought it was a good picture from the kids point of view- they must have felt like rock stars:

Here's our music class grew and the older siblings who had to miss school that afternoon for their appointments.

Then we took the tractor ride to the pumpkin patch.
We were given instructions that the kids had to pick a pumpkin they could carry.
Lance would pick up a pumpkin and say 'too heby" and try another little on.  Again, "too heby" and kept going until he had one about the size of a ball, so he could not only carry it, but throw it if he wanted.

Allie also thought lighter was better.  This is not the one she ended up with.

Dylan, on the other hand, wanted the heaviest one he could carry.

And makayla seemed to be the pickiest this year- but was the happiest when she found the 'perfect' one!

Then we were off to the pumpkin washing station and off!  It was a fun new fall memory.

Each year we cherish the ones before, and look forward to the ones in the future.
I'm glad for each day and the chance I have to build more memories.
